“Nearly 40% of energy used in Pacific Northwest buildings is from natural gas. Transferring to all-electric would result in at least a 15% increase in grid demand, which would result in rolling brownouts. We see this in central California right now, which is why when I design buildings, I often hedge for this by including natural gas generators. Natural gas is an essential part of our clean energy future. If local building codes ban natural gas it will result in less resiliency, greatly harming consumers.”
